What to Expect on Graduation Day

Graduation day is one of the most important days of your life. It’s a celebration of all the time, energy and work you have put into achieving your qualification. It’s also a day to recognise all the people who have supported you along the way, and to show them how proud you are of them.

Depending on where your ceremony is being held, you’ll be asked to enter the gowning area a few hours before the ceremony is due to start. This gives you a chance to get dressed in your graduation attire and take photos with friends while it’s quieter and less stressful. Once you are dressed, you can walk over to your ceremony location and sit with your peers before the event starts.

A big part of the graduation ceremony is awarding academic honours to students who have excelled in their studies. This includes the valedictorian award, which is given to the student with the highest grade point average in their class. This is a very special moment for those who receive it and they are usually very emotional afterwards.

After the awards have been presented, there will be a short speech from a guest speaker before everyone celebrates together. This is a very special moment for all graduates, and it’s great to see all their loved ones there to share the excitement and joy.

If you can’t attend your graduate’s graduation ceremony, there are plenty of other ways to celebrate their achievement. Some ideas include throwing a graduation party, making them a personalized memory book, or sending them a video message of congratulations.
